This site was created as an alternative to using an excel spreadsheets, access databases, or some other of the tools floating around to track and edit Star Wars Miniatures collections and squads. As a professional web app and database developer, I wanted to expand and polish the functionality I developed for my personal use into something that could be shared and enjoyed by everyone that collects and plays the Star Wars Miniatures game.

The title of the site was inspired by a shoebox that actually still exists in the house where I grew up. It contains all of my original Star Wars figures, some of which I got as a present after seeing the movie for the first time when it was re-released in the late 70s (right before ESB came out). I decided it was a nice metaphor for an online place where people could dump their own Star Wars figures, browse the unit database and build squads.
